Munising Michigan and The Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore - Spectacular Scenic Views
Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and the Munising Visitors Bureau Inc. invite you to experience a true wonder of nature.

Visitors often begin there adventure to the park with a stop at the Visitor Center for the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and Hiawatha National Forest.

Located at the H-58 and M-28 junction, the Center has a wide range of valuable information for the Pictured Rocks Area:

  • Brochures
  • Permits
  • Weather Conditions and Forecasts
  • Trail Conditions
  • Information on Waterfalls
  • and much more!
Visitors are asked to be very careful when visiting, stay clear of the cliff edges, and please stay on the trails. Water available from the park wells are safe for drinking. If you run into any problems please report them to the visitors center.

These cliffs of limestone are existing today because of the lime/sand stone named the Munising Formation.


This occurrence is also responsible for the large amounts of waterfalls in the central part of the Upper Peninsula. It runs all the way from the Tahquamenon Falls to the Laughing Whitefish Falls.
